Ashley and I went and looked at houses on Saturday. We found a realitor who specalized in old homes kind of by accident. She took us to one house I'd seen in her ad and then to a bunch of other homes in the historic district. I really like the one in the photos below. It's in a great part of the neighborhood and has a large lot for the area. It has a room in the attic and also a basement. It has harwood floors and two fireplaces. There are some other neat details too especially outside on the roofline, the original windows with diamond patterened glass in the top half, and a built in china cabinet in the dining room. The downside is it needs some work. It needs a new roof right off the bat. It will also need to be rewired eventually. Ashley is thinking about extending the back of the house too to square it up with an existing expansion. The kitchen also needs to be re-worked as far as the layout and cabinets. However, it is functional as it is. You could live in it and work on it at the same time. It would be a good investment and all the work we put in it would only improve the return. It's going to list around $105,000 - 110,000. It's something we're really thinking about.
